Ajrakh-bandhani Silk Scarf
I can hardly part with these stunning handmade silk scarves, but I'm willing to share. I found the scarves at a small, colorful fair trade exhibition of Gujarati crafts that was held leading up to Navratri, Gujarat's biggest annual festival. The artisan who makes these silk scarves works in a rural village in Gujarat, and uses ajrakh (tie dye) and bandhani techniques. Both of these techniques are traditional crafts of Gujarati, and though found in other regions, the highest quality products come out of Gujarat.
The two textures, and the combination of bright and soft colors are what make these silk scarves unique and striking.
